New manga debut commemorates 40th anniversary of Yoshiyuki TOmino’s Xabungle

A new manga debuts today as part of closing of the anniversary year of Yoshiyuki Tomino’s mecha anime series.

It was Yoshiyuki Tomino who debuted his mecha anime series Combat Mecha Xabungle in 1982.

Written by Tanaka Muneyoshi, the Combat Mecha Xabungle: Another Gale is available at Shogakukan Comic website.

Tanaka Muneyoshi says he's been a fan since the anime first aired back in 1982.

A summary of the new manga reads:

The planet Zora—once called Earth. The majority of the population are Civilians, living in Walker Machines and fighting desperately for survival under the Three-Day Rule, in which you are acquitted of any crime if you survive for 72 hours. After nearly collapsing in the hot sand, a young girl named Belle is picked up by the land-based repair ship Biscayne. There, she finds a dormant blue Walker Machine—which turns out to be Xabungle.
