NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Anime 2nd Cours Announced
NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a, the television anime based on Square Enix and Platinum Games' action role-playing game, NieR:Automata, delighted fans with a new trailer following episodes 9 to 12 on Sunday. The trailer brought fantastic news as it officially announced the green-lighting of a second cours (quarter of a year) for the anime.
Having premiered on January 7, the anime encountered some
production hurdles due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Episode 4, originally scheduled for January 28, was pushed back to February 18
to accommodate the circumstances. The anime's production committee cited the
impact of the pandemic as the primary reason for this delay. Furthermore,
episodes 9 and beyond were also delayed in March, attributing the setback to
the surge in COVID-19 infections affecting the production schedule.
Crunchyroll continues to be the platform for streaming this
highly anticipated anime adaptation.
For those unfamiliar with the game's storyline, NieR:Automata
follows the gripping tale of androids 2B, 9S, and A2, as they bravely fight to
reclaim a machine-driven dystopia overrun by powerful mechanical beings. In a
last-ditch effort to reclaim Earth from these invaders, the human resistance
deploys a formidable force of android soldiers, leading to an intense and
ongoing war between machines and androids—one that may soon unveil
long-forgotten truths about the world.
The anime is being skillfully directed by Ryouji Masuyama
(known for Blend S and Hello WeGo!) at A-1 Pictures, and Masuyama also takes
charge of the series composition alongside the original game's creator, Yokō
Tarō. The characters are designed by Jun Nakai, who is also serving as the
chief animation director, while the captivating music is composed by MONACA.
Fans and newcomers alike are eagerly looking forward to the second cours and the further exploration of this epic and thought-provoking narrative.
