Flash Gordon Makes a Triumphant Comic Comeback After a Two-Decade Hiatus

Flash Gordon, an iconic American character, is making a triumphant return to the world of comics after a two-decade hiatus. Spearheading this exciting revival is Dan Schkade, a talented Eisner-nominated cartoonist in his early 30s, renowned for his outstanding contributions to comics like "Will Eisner’s The Spirit Returns," "Lavender Jack," and "Saint John."

Schkade emerged victorious in a highly competitive audition earlier this year, where he demonstrated his prowess in both scripting and illustrating the strip. This appointment coincided with King Features' announcement of a licensing agreement with Mad Cave Studios, marking the beginning of their collaboration to publish new "Flash Gordon" narratives, graphic novels, and reprints in the coming year.

Tea Fougner, the editorial director for comics at King Features, expressed enthusiasm about the resurging interest in Flash Gordon, particularly as it unfolds through their partnership with Mad Cave Studios. She notes that the enduring appeal of Flash Gordon's story, featuring ordinary individuals from diverse backgrounds coming together to combat seemingly insurmountable challenges, remains universally relevant.
