Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto's one-shot manga "Look Back" is set to receive an anime film adaptation, scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on June 28. A new website has been launched, revealing a teaser video and visual for the upcoming film.

Directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama (known for "Flip Flappers"), the anime film will also feature Oshiyama overseeing the screenplay and character designs. Studio Durian, owned by Oshiyama, will be responsible for production.

"Look Back" made its debut on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ platform in July 2021, amassing over 2.5 million views on its first day. Viz Media and MANGA Plus have digitally published the manga in English, with a print edition released by Viz Media in September 2022. The story follows Fujino and Kyomoto, two girls from a small town with contrasting personalities who bond over their passion for creating manga.

The manga received critical acclaim, winning the inaugural Rakuten Kobo E-book Awards in May 2023 and claiming the top spot in the 2022 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook. It was also a nominee at the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards and ranked second at the 15th Manga Taisho awards.

Tatsuki Fujimoto's previous work, "Chainsaw Man," debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018, concluding its "Kōan" (Public Safety) arc in December 2020. The manga's "Gakkō-hen" (School Arc) began serialization on Shonen Jump+ in July 2022 and has received numerous accolades, including the Best Manga award at The Harvey Awards for three consecutive years.

The "Chainsaw Man" manga inspired an anime series that premiered on TV Tokyo and affiliated channels, as well as on Amazon Prime Video in October 2022. Crunchyroll has been streaming the anime in over 200 countries and territories worldwide. Additionally, an anime film based on the "Reze-hen" (Reze Arc) of the manga is currently in production, titled "Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc."
