Dorohedoro sequel anime announced
On Tuesday, the official website for the animated adaptation
of Q Hayashida's Dorohedoro manga made an exciting announcement: the anime is
set to receive a sequel, which will be released as a streaming series.
Accompanying this news was the unveiling of a teaser visual to build
anticipation.
The initial anime premiered on Netflix in Japan in January
2020, comprising 12 episodes. For international audiences, Netflix began
streaming the series in May 2020.
In English, Viz Media handles the manga's publication and
provides the following synopsis in the first volume:
Set in a city so desolate it's simply referred to as
"the Hole," a group of Sorcerers has been abducting individuals from
the streets for heinous "experiments" in dark arts. In the shadowy
corners of this grim city, Nikaido encounters Caiman, a man afflicted with a
reptile head and a severe case of amnesia. Their mission is to track down and
eliminate the Sorcerers in the Hole, with the hope that one of them is the key
to undoing the spell. However, when En, the Sorcerer leader, catches wind of a
lizard-man wreaking havoc among his followers, he dispatches a team of
"cleaners" into the Hole, triggering a conflict between two worlds.
The anime was directed by Yuichiro Hayashi (known for works
like Garo the Animation and Kakegurui) at MAPPA. Series composition was
overseen by Hiroshi Seko (credited for works like Banana Fish and Vinland
Saga), and character design was handled by Tomohiro Kishi (known for projects
such as 91 Days and Garo -Vanishing Line-). The music for the series was
composed by [K]NoW_NAME (recognized for contributions to Sakura Quest and Fairy
gone).
