Adult Swim Announces Toonami Rewind Block Featuring Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z Kai, and Naruto Anime
Adult Swim's Toonami programming block announced on Friday the launch of a new segment called Toonami Rewind, dedicated to airing anime series that were part of the original Toonami lineup before its 2012 revival. Toonami Rewind will premiere on May 31 at 5:00 p.m. EDT, featuring series like Sailor Moon with the newer Viz Media English dub, Dragon Ball Z Kai, and Naruto.
The lineup for May 31 is as follows:
5:00 p.m. – Sailor Moon (Viz Media's English dub)
5:30 p.m. – Dragon Ball Z Kai
6:00 p.m. – Dragon Ball Z Kai
6:30 p.m. – Naruto
Jason DeMarco, co-creator of Toonami, confirmed on Twitter
that Toonami Rewind will feature "classic older Toonami music and some
older packaging" recreated in HD for an anniversary broadcast.
Toonami originally aired on Cartoon Network from 1997 to
2008. It returned on Adult Swim in May 2012 and continues to air every
Saturday. The return was prompted by a successful April Fool's Day marathon in
2012, featuring reruns of popular anime like Dragon Ball Z, Mobile Suit Gundam
Wing, Tenchi Muyo!, Outlaw Star, Blue Submarine No. 6, Trigun, and more, along
with newly produced bumper videos of Toonami's mascot T.O.M.
